Coalition urges the Poverty Commission to restore state funded SNAP and cash benefits to immigrant households

Although the Legislature is in "lame duck" session until later in the year, the Massachusetts Special Commission on Poverty (authorized by Outside Section 128 of the FY22 Budget) is actively holding hearings and accepting testimony to "investigate, develop and recommend methods and strategies for reducing poverty and expanding opportunity for people with low incomes on how to address basic needs of Massachusetts residents." MLRI submitted testimony on behalf of the Coalition on August 1st, find a copy of letter here.  The Commission will hold another hearing in September in Fall River. Coalition members can submit additional testimony at any point.
